York County, located in Tidewater Virginia, is in the heart of Colonial America. In addition to tourism, York County enjoys the Peninsula's economic wealth generated by nationally recognized high tech industries including NASA, Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, Newport News Shipbuilding, various military installations, and other developing industries. York County has four high schools (9-12) with approximately 3,700 students. York High School houses the IB Magnet School for the county, grades 9-12.
